Theory of Probability (STATS 116) is a 3-5 unit advanced introductory class in probability. In summer 2012, the course will taught by Emanuel Ben-David and can be found on STATS 116 (Summer 2012) wiki page.

Material coveredEdit

In summer 2012, the material will be covered in the course is guided by Sheldon Ross's textbook, A First Course in Probability. Chapters 1-6 will be covered in detail, and portions of chapters 7-8 will be discussed in the last few weeks of the course. These chapters cover basic combinatorics, axioms of probability, conditional probability, random variables (discrete and continuous), joint distributions, expected value, and limit theorems.
